YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 3-year-old girl pulled from a backyard pool in River Vale was flown to Hackensack University Medical Center, where she was in the intensive care unit tonight.
The father found his daughter floating face-down, then jumped into the pool and pulled her out, after which a doctor attending a gathering there administered CPR, Detective Sgt. John J. DeVoe told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The call from the Arcadia Place home came in at 5:13 p.m., DeVoe said, after which responding officers found the girl with a pulse but with labored breathing pale skin and blue lips.
The officers “monitored the child’s breathing and attempted to establish a clear airway until emergency medical personnel arrived and took over care,” DeVoe said.
AirMed One landed at the Upper Grove Field on Rivervale Road and was headed to HUMC within a half-hour of the initial call, he said.
Responding along with River Vale poilce were the River Vale Volunteer Ambulance Corps, HUMC Mobile Intensive Care Unit Paramedics and the Old Tappan and Park Ridge police.
