YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Authorities were obtaining blood from a 46-year-old driver from Wanaque after her two-door Toyota Celica rear-ended a Wyckoff police cruiser on northbound Route 208 during a traffic stop this afternoon, a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the incident told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The woman was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center under police guard following the 2 p.m. crash.
“It’ll be awhile before the results come back from the [New Jersey State Police] lab,” the source told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The northbound highway was closed at Cedar Hill Avenue as members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Unit investigated the crash.
Officer Thomas Tully was out of his cruiser and Officer Mark Tagliareni was in another police car in front of it when the collision occurred.
Neither officer was injured.
Among those who responded to the crash along with their Wyckoff colleagues were Franklin Lakes, Glen Rock and Hawthorne police.
Rubbernecking delays were prevalent southbound through the area.
