ONLY ON CVP: A grand jury has brought attempted murder charges against a Little Ferry man who police said punched his girlfriend in the face, then ran her over and dragged her with his car before fleeing.
Oscar Pedraza, 18, turned himself in the day after the May 9 incident on West Fifth Street.
Police said he knocked the 32-year-old down with his car and dragged her before taking off. She was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with serious injuries.
The 5-foot-6, 300-pound Pedraza remained held on $385,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
The indictment returned in Hackensack charges him with:
- purposely attempting to cause the woman’s death;
- attempting to cause bodily injury to her with a deadly weapon;
- leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury;
- causing bodily injury to a victim knowing that she was physically helpless and unable to care for herself.
He also was served with a domestic violence restraining order.
