YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Lyndhurst detectives were reviewing surveillance video from a nightclub brawl that sent a man to the hospital with several knife wounds.
The fight broke out just before 2 a.m. at Riva Blue on Riverside Avenue near Kings Court, Capt. John Valente told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The new nightclub restaurant was packed with attendees of an event called “Live Love Sundays,” featuring hip-hop performers and deejays.
Responding officers found the 21-year-old South Orange victim on the second floor of the club, “covered in a great deal of blood,” Valente said.
He had several puncture wounds and was going in and out of consciousness, the captain said.
The victim was taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was reported in stable condition.
No weapon had been found yet.
Police discovered fresh blood next to a car in the parking lot, where they believe the fight occurred. The victim apparently then made his way back inside seeking help, Valente said.
Nutley Mayor Alphonse Petracco opened Riva Blue with his brother in April.
