YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A driver was in serious condition after firefighters extricated him from one of two brine sprayers that collided on southbound Route 17 this afternoon.
Rescue teams from Lodi and Wood-Ridge assisted their Hasbrouck Heights colleagues in freeing the driver after the collision at Williams Avenue around 12:20 p.m. closed the highway for early an hour.
The other driver was also taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that weren’t considered serious, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri Jr. told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The empty Jersey City Incinerator Authority tanker trucks were headed to Ho-Ho-Kus for a pickup, Hudson County View reported.
According to Colaneri, the first truck was stopped at the light at Williams in the left lane of Route 17 when it was struck from behind by the second one.
A third vehicle, a sedan stopped in the middle lane, was also struck and had slight damage, the lieutenant said. The driver wasn’t injured, he said.
The highway, which had one lane operating an hour after the crash, was cleared by 3 p.m.
