Carlstadt police used Narcan to revive an unresponsive 17-year-old boy who collapsed after smoking a synthetic marijuana cigarette — then arrested a 28-year-old man who they said gave it to him.
Steven Strauss was charged with child endangerment and possessing and distributing a synthetic cannabinoid to a minor after Officer’s Felix D’Amico and Jonathan Rood responded to a Madison Street residence Wednesday night, Police Chief Thomas Nielsen said.
D’Amico gave a Narcan blast to the boy, who “almost immediately” woke up and vomited, the chief asid.
Carlstadt EMS and an ALS unit from Hackensack University Medical Center responded.
The boy was taken to HUMC for treatment, Nielsen said.
The officers also seized the K2 cigarette, he said.
