YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Lyndhurst detectives arrested a borough man today and charged him with phoning in six bomb threats to the local Shop-Rite and Stop & Shop dating back to late October, ending what had been a frustrating six-month spree for employees, customers and emergency responders.

Robert J. Bohmer, 55, was picked up at his home, taken in for questioning and charged with a half-dozen counts of filing a false public alarm following an investigation by Detectives Vincent Auteri and Michael Lemanowicz.

“Although cooperative, Bohmer could give no particular reason for targeting the two supermarkets,” Capt. John Valente told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.

The threats, which all refered to “bomb(s) going off in 10 minutes,” were made between 9:45 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., “causing the evacuation of patrons and employees and a response from police, fire and EMS” to the Shop-Rite on New York Avenue and the Stop & Shop on Lewandowski Street, Valente said.

Bohmer was released on a summons to appear in Municipal Court on May 12.
