YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: A male driver was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center this afternoon after his Suburu Outback barreled off a Garden State Parkway exit, across the road and through a guardrail.
The vehicle tore a huge hole in the guardrail and landed in a wooded embankment after coming off northbound Exit 168 and speeding straight across Washington Avenue just before 12:15 p.m.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit responded, along with township, Hillsdale, Westwood and NJ State Police, township firefighters and Hillsdale EMS.
Washington Avenue remained closed in both directions near the crash scene into mid-afternoon, as did the parkway ramp at Exit 168.
