CVP EXCLUSIVE: A Little Ferry man agreed to testify against his wife’s former lover in exchange for probation for breaking into his apartment.
Marcel Alcala, 23, forced his way into the Hackensack apartment of Robert J. Leonardis brandishing a tire iron on April 28, 2012 to settle a personal score over his wife, authorities told CLIFFVIEW PILOT at the time.
Leonardis’s brother disarmed Alcala, after which Robert Leonardis stabbed him in the abdomen, they said.
Leonardis was out on bail for the stabbing when he got into a shootout with Hackensack police in July 2013 (SEE: Grand jurors return charges of attempted murder of police in Hackensack shootout).
He remained held on $1.5 million bail today in the Bergen County Jail pending the outcome of that case.
Alcala’s plea to reduced charges of disorderly persons assault for the burglary requires him to testify against Leonardis in the stabbing case and to give police a statement before July 29.
