UPDATE: A Garfield police officer was released from Hackensack University Medical Center with some stitches and bruises on his head after his cruiser struck a utility pole before dawn.
Officer Jonathan Librizzi was headed south on River Drive just before Marcellus Place when the crash occurred around
3:10 a.m., Capt. Ronald Polonkay told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The department was investigating the circumstances.
