A homeless man sexually assaulted and beat a woman on an Englewood street before dawn yesterday, authorities said.
Richard Cazassa Jr., 27, was being held on $101,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault and violation of a court order.
The woman dialed 911 at 3:21 a.m. and was taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.
Englewood police officers found and arrested Cazassa a short time later, he said.
Molinelli said his Special Victims Unit was notified and responded to assist.
“The victim has been released from the hospital and the domestic violence restraining order remains in effect,” the prosecutor said.
Cazassa was scheduled for arraignment Aug. 26.
