YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: A grand jury in Hackensack last week charged an Emerson woman with trying to cover up her husband’s alleged sexual assault of a grade school girl.

Michelle Weckstrom, 42, was released after being arrested and processed Friday following the indictment.

The indictment charges that she “hindered apprehension or prosecution” by directing the alleged victim “not to tell anyone” of the crime “and / or taking no further action and / or alerting” her husband, Karl.

The indictment also charges Karl Weckstrom, a 44-year-old IT worker, with fondling and digitally penetrating the girl sometime between Jan. 1, 2010 and August 21, 2011, before she turned 10. He’s also charged with impairing the morals of a minor.

Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and borough police arrested the 6-foot-4-inch, 280-pound Weckstrom last Oct. 25 after the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency alerted local authorities.

He was released from the Bergen County Jail four days later on $100,000 bail.
